Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the special issue of Journal of Biomedical Photonics & Engineering (J-BPE, http://jbpe.ssau.ru/) dedicated to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of our colleague Prof. Alexander V. Priezzhev, well-known Soviet and Russian scientist, Head of the Biomedical Photonics Laboratory, Physics Department of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. This special issue is aimed to honor his contribution to the field of biophotonics especially in blood studies.

Alexander V. Priezzhev was born on April, 3, 1947. He graduated and received his PhD degree from the Physics Department, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Moscow, Russia) in 1971 and 1975, respectively. Currently he is the Head of the Laboratory of Biomedical Photonics at M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. As a principal investigator and research fellow he was involved in numerous national and international research projects in the area of medical physics and biomedical optics; he co-authored more than 400 peer-reviewed papers, books and conference proceedings. Alexander V. Priezzhev has been awarded by the Ministry of Healthcare of Russian Federation for the long-lasting activities in the development of novel optical techniques for medical applications. He was also awarded by the Ministry of Science and Education of Russian Federation for achievements in research and education activities. His areas of expertise cover biophysics, biophotonics, biomedical optics, laser medicine, medical physics, physics of biological fluids, nanobiophotonics, and optical and laser measurement techniques. The main results published in his numerous papers and monographs are related to optics and biophysics of blood, its rheological properties, the interaction of blood cells with laser radiation, and fundamental questions of elastic and quasi-elastic light scattering when light interacts with biological cells and tissues.

In this special issue, we propose to collect state-of-the-art research papers in the fields, in which A.V. Priezzhev is the distinguished expert: biomedical optics, biophotonics, methods of optical and laser measurements in biomedicine and nanobiophotonics and other areas related to blood studies.

We invite you to contribute to this issue with original articles, reviews and mini-reviews, tutorials and letters. Also, we ask you to distribute this invitation among those who work in the field of biophotonics closely related to the scientific interests of Prof. Alexander V. Priezzhev.

The deadline for submission of manuscripts is 15 September 2022.

The link to the submission guide is here.

Please label your manuscript by "Priezzhev75An" keyword during submission or in your MS file.

Sincerely yours,
