About the Journal

The Journal of Biomedical Photonics and Engineering focuses on cutting-edge research and applications related to the interaction between light and biological materials, as well as biomedical signal processing. Its objectives are to provide an effective communication channel between researchers, practitioners, clinicians, government agencies, universities, academic institutions and individuals working in the field of biomedical photonics and engineering. The journal covers the application of photonics and engineering to the development of medical devices and technologies, advances in early detection, diagnosis and therapy for disease, with the aim of improving the quality of healthcare.

This special issue will present a collection of papers related to recent achievements in application of optical techniques in biomedicine including both optical diagnostics modalities and laser-based treatment approaches. The issue aims at giving a cross-section of state-of-the art research in the area of biomedical optics. The scope of the special issue covers the topics that are traditionally discussed within the frames of the All-Russian Interdisciplinary Conference with International Participation “Fluorescence for Biomedicine” (FluoBioMed) held biannualy in Nizhny Novgorod and gathering leading scientists in the area of biomedical optics
